Dawson is a laid-back, quiet, residential neighborhood in the middle of a bustling urban setting. Some long-time, close-knit residents are here, mixed with newcomers including artists, musicians, families, and students at nearby St. Edwards University. Looking around, you will see a rendition of nearly every architectural style you can imagine, from traditional to farmhouse to craftsman to super modern homes. In addition to many South Austin shops, cafes, and nightclubs being just to the north, Dawson itself has many local eating establishments. The Austin Beer Garden Brewery is known for their interesting pizza menu, house-brewed beer, and their large dog-friendly patio. It's a great place for large groups or smaller parties. You can sit back, relax and listen to the live music outdoors on the long picnic benches. As an added bonus they make dog treats out of used grains from the brewing process! Williamson Creek Greenbelt right down the way as well.
