Overview
Near the eastern end to Austin’s famed Sixth Street you will find the neighborhood of Holly. Historic family-owned restaurants are neighborhood fixtures. It is no secret that Austin has a reputation for tasty barbecue and there are worse places to start with than La Barbecue, a hip barbecue hut with outdoor seating. At the corner of Holly Street and Robert Martinez Jr. Street is the Launderette. This former industrial laundromat has been converted to a retro chic café. Directly in the middle of the neighborhood is Juan in a Million, a wildly popular Tex Mex eatery open for breakfast and lunch. Wandering around this neighborhood, you will see lots of people heading to one of the three major parks during the day. Along with these parks, you could enjoy the beach at Edward Rendon Sr. Park at Festival Beach. The beach sits along Lady Bird Lake, bordered by an urban hiking and biking nature trail. Holly is the place to live if you enjoy the outdoors.
